The quarry from which this greyish blue natural whetstones are obtained, has been dug since 19th century by same traditional methods for obtaining homogeneous largest parts possible. The quarry is near to Alabanda, the ancient Carian city.

 

The sedimentary geological structure and on-going enormous pressures for ages on the earth crust due to tectonically active geography of the region made possible the encapsulation of an uniformly distributed texture of crystals in soft rock formations which provide the unbelievable sharpening efficacy in seconds. The abrasive grains are constituted 25-30% of the material of whetstone. It has a grid of circa 4000. 

 

 

The stones are avialable in various sizes where a size of 180x15x40 (mm) is the most preferred one. The whetstones in this size are suitable for household use and they come in their traditional wooden boxes.
